Economic Revitalisation Programme
A funded plan to bring new investment into Burgersdorp.
Rather than recycling the town’s limited local spending, our programme is built around three ways to bring in outside investment and spending: capturing tourist and traveller spend, producing Karoo goods and digital services for markets beyond Burgersdorp, and attracting grants and impact investment. It’s funded through community and diaspora contributions starting at R250 a month, with full financial reporting published twice a year.

Three ways investment comes in
Bringing outside investment into town.
Recycling the same local spending does not grow anything. These are the three streams the programme is built on.
01
Capture traveller spend
02
Produce for markets beyond town
03
Attract grants and investment
01
Capture traveller spend
Give people driving the N6 a reason to stop: marked hiking routes, heritage buildings, places to sleep and eat.
02
Produce for markets beyond town
Karoo goods and digital services sold outside Burgersdorp, so income does not depend on local wallets.
03
Attract grants and investment
Impact investors and funders back projects with clear reporting. The dam precinct is the flagship case.
