Started around a kitchen table in 2025, still run that way.
A group of Burgersdorp residents, shop owners, teachers, and a retired municipal engineer, got tired of waiting for plans to arrive from somewhere else. In 2025 they registered the Burgersdorp Development Agency as a nonprofit, community-governed organisation with one job: make specific, visible improvements to the town, decided by the town.
What we believe

Local first
Decisions get made by people who live here, not by a plan written somewhere else and dropped in.
Plain reporting
No jargon in our updates. If a project is delayed, we say so and say why.
Small and finishable
We’d rather finish ten small repairs than announce one grand plan that never lands.
Open books
Our funding and spending are published twice a year for anyone to read.
