FAQs
The questions we get asked most.
If your question is not here, phone the office on 082 502 1820 or send us a message. We are a small office and we answer things ourselves, so replies usually come within two working days.
01
How are projects chosen?
Anyone can submit a project idea through this site or in person at our office. The board reviews submissions monthly and ranks them by how many households they affect, what they cost, and how quickly they can realistically get done.
02
How is the agency funded?
Through a mix of provincial development grants, private foundation support, and small local donations. We publish a plain-language financial summary twice a year so anyone can see where the funding went.
03
Can I attend a board meeting?
Yes. Board meetings are open to the public, and minutes go up on our noticeboard outside the old post office within a week.
04
Who can stand for the board?
Anyone who lives or runs a business in Burgersdorp can stand for a seat or vote. The board is elected at an open annual meeting, not appointed.
05
What does the agency actually do?
Four things: small business support, skills and training, infrastructure and local projects, and tourism and investment promotion. Each has one point of contact at the agency.
06
How do I report a broken water line, pothole or streetlight?
We keep a public log of reported faults. Come past the office or send us a message through the contact page, and we will add it to the map and push it up the right channel.
07
Do I need an appointment?
No. You do not need an appointment, a form, or a reference number. We are at the Burgersdorp Museum on Piet Retief Street, Monday to Friday 08:00–16:00 and Saturday 09:00–12:00.
